The Journey of a thousand miles part 5: Changing course

So after a few days of researching and watching videos and reading testimonials about the different Bariatric Surgeries, I have decided instead of the lap band, I am going to get the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. This surgery reduces the size of the stomach by 85 percent. The expected average weight loss in a six month period is 100 lbs. I've seen before and after pics of people that lost almost 150 lbs in a year. The change is phenomenal. Not just a weight loss, but in some cases it looks like they took years off. One woman in her twenties looked like a teenager.

It was amazing.

I have to say, after seeing all of this, I've decided to go with the sleeve surgery. Once you heal up from the surgery, the follow up to the doctor is far less than the lap band. Also, the lap band has issues like the body might reject the band, it can slip, it needs lots of follow up maintenance. Of course, the sleeve is completely irreversible. Once it's done, that's it, no do overs or resets. Its also harder to cheat on the diet with the sleeving.

I have two things left to do, a chest xray and my primary care doctor has to give me a referral to the surgeon. Chest xray should be done shortly and the referral is no problem.

To quote the Pointer Sisters, "I feel excited..."!
